The committee is toying with the idea of having a presence on one or more of the social networking sites. We could for instance have the website send tweets whenever a new post is made to the website, or have a group on linked-in or facebook.
So the first thing to establish is:

I have only just joined Facebook because other friends (both IVC & non-IVC) are already on it.
It seems easy to set up and use and could be used to boost the profile of the club.
I get the impression it probably the best social website for our club out there.
At this moment i would like to gradually get used to Facebook, i am wary of being bombarded with junk e-mails and spam so i am taking it one step at a time.
I have to confess that i am not a computer expert but Facebook seems very easy to use.

Guys,
You are STILL in the 19th century and have still to catch up if you want your club to expand.
There is absolutely no NEED to be afraid of Facebook, as long as you follow some simple rules. If it LOOKS suspect,…it probably IS. Dont reply to everyone. and THINK before you reply.
If my 15 year old son can get a profile and stay safe I’m sure the IVC group can as well.
ALSO, why not try http://www.meetup.com, you guys are WAY behind some other groups on this one.
Just a few comments. But hey, I’m a Technophile, love computers, so I would say that wouldn’t I?!!!
Cheers,
Neil
